It was a superb start for Barça, who found themselves in front inside 10 minutes thanks to Jules Koundé, who latched onto a sumptuous Pedri pass into the box before somehow bundling the ball home.
The visitors looked in total control heading into the half-time break, but their lead was discarded when Mauro Arambarri struck for the home side to level the score.
Hansi Flick's side pushed to find another go-ahead goal in the second-half, controlling possession and probing the Getafe rearguard.
But for all their control, the Blaugrana did little to penetrate the stubborn home defence.
The frustrating draw sees Barça head into Sunday five points off of the top, though Real Madrid could extend that gap to seven should they defeat Las Palmas Sunday afternoon.
