One superstar continues to drag Los Blancos forward this season: Jude Bellingham.
Girona failed to muster anything worthwhile in front of home fans, and combined with registering zero efforts on target after an hour, they allowed the visitors to dominate the game.
Bellingham first crashed the box and scored in his fifth consecutive LaLiga game before sending a brilliant through ball to Arda Güler after the break for 2-0. He now has eight goal contributions in his last five league games.
Unfortunately for Madrid, the 21-year-old was forced off with an apparent groin issue. Ferland Mendy later joined the Englishman on the injury list with a thigh issue of his own, and the duo joined Rodrygo on the sidelines after he was an early injury scratch.
With Bellingham off the pitch, Kylan Mbappé ensured fans didn't forget about him. The Frenchman scored after receiving a ball from Luka Modrić on the right and put the ball into the opposite corner. He now has 200 league goals in his career.
After the third goal, Girona finally turned up, but their three chances on target did not trouble Thibaut Courtois too much. In particular, Arnaut Danjuma and Yáser Asprilla caused problems out wide for the visitors.
The result means Real Madrid are only two points behind Barcelona and have a game in hand. Girona, meanwhile, are eighth.
